The Morgan Library has the following internship opportunities for full-time CUNY undergraduate students.

Compensation: $10.00 / hour
Hours: 10–15 per week
Days: 2–3 days per week (schedule negotiable)

#HR 2040REA – Reading Room
The intern will perform duties in the reading room for scholars, such as paging, reshelving, and photocopying of reference books. The intern will also perform clerical duties which include filing and some typing as well as photocopying of selected rare materials from the Archives. Attention to detail required, some library experience preferred. Good physical condition important since some heavy lifting may be required.

#HR3020PPE – Public Programs and Education
The intern will provide clerical assistance related to Public Programs and Education, which includes scanning slides, assistance with the museum’s docent and school programs, answering phones and providing general information on public programs. The intern occasionally will be needed in the early evening to work events, such as concerts and lectures. Proficiency in Photoshop, Word, and Excel are required.

#HR2030PHOTO – Photography & Rights
The intern will perform duties that will include filing, labeling, and mailing photographic materials, reorganizing existing photographic inventory, helping to create a photographic materials inventory, and scanning photographic materials. Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills, dependability and punctuality, as well as the ability to work unsupervised are required. A strong background in the humanities, art history, and/or fine arts, and familiarity with Microsoft Windows is helpful. Proficiency in a language other than English is helpful but not required.

#HR2050REF – Reference Collection
The intern will perform shelf reading and inventory of the Reference Collection. The intern will also check auction and dealer catalogue holdings and holdings in CORSAIR, the Morgan’s comprehensive online catalog, against standard bibliographies. Attention to detail, proficiency in Windows, Word, and Excel required; some library experience preferred.

#HR4030MIS – Management Information Services (Network)
Interns will learn network administration, such as activating data jacks, performing network backups and restores, adding network nodes, rolling out new workstations, system building and troubleshooting, evaluating and implementing software and hardware solutions to business and technical problems, etc.

#HR 1040LIT – Literary and Historical Manuscripts
The intern will provide research and clerical support for the department of Literary and Historical Manuscripts. Duties may include assistance preparing upcoming exhibitions on the work of Thomas Hardy and John Milton as well as a major exhibition of New Yorker cartoons. A strong humanities background required, preferably with specialization in English literature or visual arts/cartoons, and meticulous attention to detail.

#HR 9000MER – Merchandising
The intern will perform duties involving inventory management, including receiving merchandise, shipping, stockroom storage, merchandise display design and organization. There will be special emphasis on accurate accounting of store inventory and inventory control systems. Attention to detail, ability to lift/carry objects up to 30 pounds, proficiency in Windows, Word, and Excel required; some retail experience preferred.
